Smart Villages & Territories

My list

Smart Villages or Territories are communities in rural areas that use innovative solutions to improve their resilience, building on local strengths and opportunities. Hence, they can be instrumental for the development of rural areas, as they usually are areas of great assets and they could become even more attractive if governments enable local actors to unlock their potential. Fostering urban-rural linkages and creating synergies can help territories to achieve more cohesive and balanced development. Throughout this session, we will explore ideas, initiatives and practical examples on how to revitalize rural services through digital and social innovation, as well as how to pursue the transition to smart villages in the fields of renewable energy, digitalisation, social innovation and Mobility.
